What is amPIL?

amPIL is a fully customisable QLA platform which will allow teachers and student to:

  • Use prior assessment data to predict attainment on upcoming topics of a Scheme of Work

  • Download personalised feedback sheets following an assessment

  • Highlight class/individual strengths and weaknesses to be addressed

  • Quickly collect Question Level Analysis from individual students so teachers do not have to submit this manually

  • Help facilitate teacher rankings and Centre Assesssed Grades

  • We firmly believe that students should only be assessed if the information is going to be used effectively in a way that will help the students make progress. amPIL allows staff to proactively plan their lessons and direct students to more targeted resources when delivering content. This is all possible without adding to teacher workload in any way

"assessment information is used to plan appropriate teaching and learning strategies, including to identify pupils who are falling behind in their learning or who need additional support, enabling pupils to make good progress and achieve well" - OFSTED School Inspection Handbook, 2018 [167]

    Staff Features

  • By linking with a scheme of work and prior assessment data, amPIL can be used to inform teachers how students in their group are likely to find any topic they are about to deliver. This should be used for proactive intervention.

  • Students are able to upload their assessment scores through the amPIL tracker. Teachers can monitor this in real time to check for completion.

  • Student feedback sheets are automatically generated, showing individual strengths and weaknesses. These can be downloaded individually by the student, or by the teacher as a class export.

  • Class teachers are provided with a class overview sheet showing a whole class results, colour coded to achievement. The amPIL tracker also automatically creates a list of the "Top 5" topics that students struggled with on each assessment.

  • Quickly create revision lists for an upcoming assessment which can be downloaded by both the student and teacher

  • Full customisation to suit any Scheme of Work and any assessment

  • Student details, test results, and test information can all be bulk uploaded and downloaded as a CSV file

  • Student completion of feedback can be monitored by teaching staff in real time

  • User friendly platform to help facilitate Centre Assesssed Grades

  • Our advanced markbook highlights student achievement and tracks progress over time. Find out more by clicking the tab.

  • Student Features

  • Students can submit their own assessment scores through the amPIL tracker.

  • Once submitted, students can access their individual Question Level Analysis feedback sheets immediately

  • Students are given a RAG feedback linked to a Scheme of Work so they can highlight strengths and weaknesses throughout the year

  • Students have immediate access to revision lists for upcoming assessments, available to download through amPIL

  • Advanced Markbook

    Main Markbook

This filterable and sortable markbook shows you an overview of each test allocated to the yeargroup. Each test result shows a raw mark, percentage, and grade (if allocated). Scores are highlighted red/green when students scored significantly above or below the average for their current group. If last terminal exam score (such as KS2) is provided, up/down facing arrows highlight students. performing at a level significantly above or below their expected performance based on their last terminal exam.

    Summary table

This shows the average mark and percentage from each set allowing you to compare performance between groups.

    Intervention cohorts

This highlights students that have shown sustained under/overachievement based on their last terminal exam. This feature will not return any results if terminal exam scores are not given or less than 90% of the students in the yeargroup do not have terminal exam scores. This does not take into account the group in which the student is currently working. Students are ranked based on their suitability for intervention.

    Set change suggestions

Set change recommendations are based on the following criteria:

  • A student has scored significantly above/below the average score for an assessment

  • A student has an average score above/below that of another group

  • A student has scored within the top/bottom 20% of all results and they are currently in a group that scored the highest average (for when more than one tier of test is given to a particular yeargroup)

  • The set change recommendations do not take into account any yeargroup banding or prior terminal exam scores.

    Grade predictions

This uses data from previous years to highlight what grades previous students have attained at the next terminal exam based on what they scored in these assessments. Each test is split into 5 percentage brackets (0-20%, 20-40% etc) so you can identify the percentage likelihood of achieving each grade.

    Historic tracking

This tracks the historic total average scores between academic years. You should be able to use this to spot trends within your results over time. An academic year runs between 1st Sep and 31st Aug.

    (new!) Centre Assessed Grades

  • amPIL will help teachers and department leaders administer CAGS.

  • Each teacher has a secure login and a simple drag and drop interface to rank the students

  • We all know the danger of a rogue algorithm, but amPIL will have a go at calculating a standardised score from a number of assessments for each student. It isn't perfect, and should not be used exclusively, but it does give DL's a good starting point.

  • If you haven't previously used amPIL as a QLA platform, don't worry. You can upload scores from any assessment you have quickly. The only other information we need is the student prior assessment data (either GCSE or KS2).
